Funnily enough, though, if you have any written works or journals saved in sta.sh (that you used sta.sh writer to create) you can still use sta.sh writer to edit them - much more pleasant, and for that reason I really hope sta.sh writer returns. I haven’t written anything new in a while but now I certainly won’t go to dA to do so, so it’s very counter intuitive.
I’m not sure about inserting photos because I never got the hang of it on dA Classic but I’ve heard the murmurs and complaints in that area too.Īs someone who uses dA solely to write, and made sole use of sta.sh writer, the new literature interface genuinely puts me off from using it. You could be writing away merrily for hours and have nothing saved at the end of it. It also doesn’t make it clear as to whether your works are saved automatically like it used to in sta.sh writer - clicking out of the interface just asks if you want to discard your changes, and pressing ‘publish’, you know, publishes it. When you publish works you aren’t able to edit them from the submission page like you used to be able to. I haven’t copy and pasted work into the literature interface but I’ve been told that it messes with the layout if you do, adding unnecessary paragraphing and not allowing you to scroll down and view the work. You can’t use html tags and have to hover over sentences to then use bold/italics, something which doesn’t always work. Click ' Restore Defaults ' and ' Apply '. Navigate to Windows>Preferences>Java>Editor. This example will be for resetting a theme used for Java. It’s also massively blown up and a bit jarring to use. You can reset to the default color scheme in the Window>Preferences options page. Writing directly into it, the page doesn’t move down naturally as you write line on line so sometimes you can’t see what you’re writing. Because of this, I would often switch to the old site layout to make sure I wasn't missing out on any exclusive artwork, but now with the feature of revisiting the old site gone, I'm now a little disappointed that there's some artwork that is basically gone forever.Īlso, why are writers now choosing to only submit PDFs, images and google doc links for their literature? Is the new Eclipse literature submission system THAT bad or something? I'm kind of out of the loop with every single issue eclipse has. Is this to do with image filtering? Is it something to do with resizing the image? The reason this is an issue is because some users who upload both art and literature will sometimes include exclusive artworks for these literature works, but they now no longer appear. Get ready to experience the redesigned DeviantArt, complete with the ability to choose between light and dark site themes. The main thing that I noticed when on the Eclipse layout with literature is that images that writers would use to appear in the thumbnail along with the literature no longer seem to show up in the thumbnail, or often times not at all. If your someone who uses dA frequenty - are you sad to see the old look go? If you're someone like me who left the site - would you be interested in trying it with these changes in store? Thoughts? DeviantArt Eclipse For all who are looking to engage in discussions with fellow artists outside of a forum like DeviantArt will admire the amiability of Polycount’s user interface. Its a step in the right direction for a website thats looked pretty much the same since inception. For example, to tag John, you would type :iconJohn: at the point. DeviantArt Eclipse has a lot of positive elements. Have you checked out Eclipse yet? What's your opinion on the changes being made? Type the members username and : in the space immediately following the :icon code. Today I was doing that exact thing, when I noticed the ad for the new site update. Now I just forget to post there for months, drop some art off and disappear until next time.
However, over time I lost interest in the site, finding issues in the community and especially the lack of updates to the site (other than random stuff nobody wanted, and making their membership a more expensive with benefits competitor site offered free *cough *.) So like a lot of artists, my beginnings of sharing and discovering art started on DeviantART.
